Innovation Laboratory Water Electrolysis (InnoEly)

Project Description

The project "Innovation Laboratory Water Electrolysis (InnoEly)" is a project funded by the MWK Lower Saxony from a consortium of research institutes in Lower Saxony in the field of water electrolysis. InnoEly aims to build a bridge from material development to system design of water electrolysers. Together with the participating industrial partners, a toolbox consisting of experimental and model-based methods is being developed, which serves the view of the system operator as well as that of the material developer and the electrolyzer manufacturer. The toolbox contains modeling and characterization components that are used for all three relevant water electrolysis technologies, such as alkaline electrolysis (AEL), acidic proton exchange membrane electrolysis (PEMEL) and high temperature electrolysis (HTEL).

The IfT supports the project by providing know-how in modeling and experimental characterization of oxide ceramic fuel and electrolysis cells.
