The institute's teaching focuses on the fundamental subjects of thermodynamics in the bachelor's and master's programs. The compulsory modules Thermodynamics I and Thermodynamics II in the bachelor's program form the foundation of the training. In the master's program, Mixture and Process Thermodynamics complements this profile as a compulsory elective course and deepens the thermodynamic description of complex material and process systems.
In addition, numerous courses are closely linked to the institute's main areas of research. These include Heat Transfer II – Boiling and Condensation, Heat Pumps and Refrigeration Systems, and the Renewable Energies module, which is offered in cooperation with the TFD and the ISFH. The Thermofluid Dynamics module is also conducted jointly with the TFD and combines fluid mechanics and heat transfer at an advanced level.
Laboratory courses and student projects are also of particular importance. They enable the practical application of theoretical content, promote independent scientific work, and create a close connection between teaching and current research.
